Street Performance

I have been a Street Performer for a long time. I thought I would only be out on the streets a short while - until I learned enough songs to play a set at an open mike or coffee house.    I soon learned what a wonderful place the street is. There are always wonderful people to talk to who will share ideas and an encouraging word. I was amazed at the support I received by giving to the community with my enthusiasm and my little songs. You have to really love people to be a good street performer.    I have also learned what a valuable role our open community spaces fill - how these spaces allow people to interact and share ideas and become less isolated. Every community of humans needs a place for its citizens to gather or they will become overly fearful of each other. We are social creatures. Positive, community building, street level activities, like Street Performance, need to be encouraged.
