Is there anyone who doesn't like
Street Performance ?

Street Performance, as with all the arts, is about exuberance. There are some people who have a difficult time accepting other people´s forms of expresion and feel the need to critisise, complain and control without understanding or accepting the larger public´s cultural and comercial benefit.

Street Performance is constantly being threatened by a few squeaky wheels who are chronic complainers. There are thousands of people and hundreds of stores, in any one city, who support Street Performance, but all it takes are a few grumpy individuals to prompt a city to regulate Street Performance out of existence. These are individuals who find it easier to call athorities and complain than to help create community based solutions for their concerns.

I have learned the hard way by seeing many, great Street Performance scenes swept out from under my feet. The people who love and accept things the way they are don't usually call city hall to say how much they like what´s going on, it is the people who have something to complain about who call non-stop until they get what they want.

It is very important for all those who support Street Performance to let their city halls, police, stores, and news papers (through letters to the editors) know how much they enjoy and appeciate the city´s support of the continuation of Street Performance. Otherwise performers will be harrased out of existence.
